VETS OVER 50's MENS
Blackburn North Cricket Club Inc. (BNCC) was established in 1948 and is affiliated within the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association (BHRDCA) and Veterans Cricket Victoria (VCV). The Club is well established with a long and proud history and recently celebrated its 75th Jubilee Year in 2023. The Club has two grounds located at Koonung Reserve, Heppner St, Blackburn North, including the main “Len Toogood Oval” and the West Oval. The Club fields an additional four senior men’s teams that play from 1pm on Saturday afternoons. All grades play on synthetic pitches.
The over 50’s VETS team play fortnightly on Sunday’s from 12.30pm-6.00pm. There are normally only 7 rounds per season, commencing mid-October and finishing mid-February followed by finals. The season is completed by end February and prior to the commencement of the Senior teams finals in the first week of March.
The format is inclusive and design for all players to be involved. All games are 1-day games over 36 overs. Up to 13 players can play, batsmen must compulsory retire at 40 runs (and cannot return to bat), and a minimum of 8 bowlers must be utilised, bowling at least one over each with a maximum of 4 overs per bowler.
Our over 50's team is well established and has made consecutive Grand Finals, sadly without success, but we're always looking to go one better, even whilst more focussed on the social side of the game! All new recruits most welcome!
